OUR MISSION

The Calgary Youth Drop-in Center exists to provide a safe after-school space for students in North Calgary focusing on mentorship, nourishment, socialization, and inspiration to live their best life.

OUR VISION

  • Be a safe space for teenagers.

  • Provide emotional and physical help to navigate the challenges of life.

  • Provide a place to build a positive community.

  • Develop character traits like respect, servanthood, teamwork, and generosity through word and deed.

  • Equip teenagers with the tools needed to live their best life.

OUR HISTORY

In 2005, BP Church was looking for ways to meet the needs of our immediate and surrounding communities. We paired up with local agencies with similar objectives to find out what those needs were. The two primary needs identified were language services for new immigrants and a safe, positive place for teenagers during the ‘critical hours’ after school (weekdays from 3-6 pm).

BP Church met both needs (see also Agape Language Centre). In 2005, BP Church purchased and renovated an old church building, and in 2006, we opened our doors. Wilf and Audrey Kimball (a local senior couple) would volunteer their time and provide mentorship, and delicious home-cooked meals daily to our few students. By 2009 we were offering a safe after-school space for over 130 students weekly.

WHAT’S UP NOW?

We are just as committed as ever to provide the teenagers in our community with a fun and safe environment during after school hours.
